A must have for someone who is seeking the origins of knowledge!

I had to buy the book for a college philosophy course on the study of ancient and medieval philosophy. It's a great introductory read for anyone who's looking to study the origin of modern thought. The diversity of the book is rather extensive for the time period it aims to cover. It has a great layout and the chronological order of texts is very concise and clear. I also like that it included the Socratic dialogues by Plato in their entirety, along with many other of his famous works which include a full version of his "Republic." All in all, a great book and great buy for the price. It was also shipped to me very quickly (less than 3 business days.) Enjoy!

Very interesting book for those looking for an initial insight to ancient philosophy. Good condition. Highlights and writing can be a bit distracting to me but it was a good deal and worked for what I needed.

Class textbook

I had never read anything on philosophy and this book was for an intro course. Did a good job with the simple explanations of some more difficult readings. While you would want to make your own conclusions about some of the readings (given how many can be interpreted in different ways) this is a good stepping stone into philosophy.
