Not impressed - Not that helpful for a lay person.

This book was required for my Planning Law class. I don't care for it at all. It's mostly just reprinted case decisions. It would have been nice to have more analysis explaining the cases and decisions. More background and basic concepts should have been included.
I have been using it for the past month and still don't understand how the book is organized and presented. Maybe it is okay for Law School classes, but for planners and laymen.........look elsewhere. I had no choice, it was a required text, so I ended up buying other books to help me through the class.

Clear progression, useful maps and commentary

I really think this is a pretty accessible case book. I think it has some good analyses and reference notes on each case, and it really helps the reader to both understand the cases, as well as figure out how they're significant. Also, the case book is not afraid to use maps and diagrams to help illustrate what is being discussed (for example in the Euclid case, there's a map of Ambler's property), and the digarams are a bit cryptic, but they're much more useful than trying to create a mental map from the opinion itself!
Overall, chances are, that if you're reading this you don't have much of a choice about buying this book, but it's really not the worst case book in the world, and it has a good progression of cases making it very clear how the common law builds on itself.

great book, super thin paper though

The loose leaf paper used to print this book was like bible paper; super thin, and easy to rip. I made it through the whole book with out a rip, but still question it. The material in the book was excellent. Very good flow from case to case and how each court case played on the next. Found it interesting,
