Do you know the difference between people who can eat whatever they feel like eating and remain slim, as opposed to people who gain weight even when they try to diet and eat very little?
There is not only one, but three survival mechanisms responsible this difference:
1. insulin resistance – which decreases your metabolism both when you undereat and when you overeat – increasing your body fat percentage in both of these situations;
2. leptin resistance – which decreases your ability to perceive satiety when… well, there is more than one “when” at work in leptin’s case, all explained in this book – increasing your hunger;
3. dopamine resistance – which decreases your ability to perceive the pleasure of eating (or any other pleasure, for that matter) when you allow yourself intermittent access to your favorite foods – increasing your cravings.
If you are part of the many people who gain weight even when eating as little as they possibly can, and you want to become one of the few people who stay slim even when eating anything they like, read this book today! You’ll not only learn how these survival mechanisms cause your mind to keep you obese, but you’ll also learn how to create your very own premium diet. And after you’ve read the book and created your diet, you’ll learn how to apply it, to become as slim and as healthy as you ever wanted to be.

It's about much more than chocolate…
By TFLReader
I have read a lot of diet books over the past few years and I have to say that Diana Artene's "The Old Chocolate Diet" is, by far, the most intellectually stimulating diet book that I have ever read. I purchased and sat down hoping to learn how to eat right and lose weight and ended up learning so much more about the body, the working of our minds and, yes, myself.
As someone who also loves good food, dieting can turn into a complicated psychological battle. With Artene's insight, on so many levels, about appetite and how stress plays a role in our eating habits, I feel better equipped to approach the foods that I love and eating in an entirely different manner. Definitely recommend.

Great Book
By Jan Wuzeler
This is quite different from the other diet books that I have read. The author introduces us to the Old Chocolate Diet which she came up with when she was in her last year of high school. Organized into 3 major sections - Introduction, Appetite and Stress, the information she shares is very logically arranged and easy to understand. For example, she makes me understand that to loss weight, I have to undergo a lifestyle change and not just go on a diet.
There are many other great tips and information in this book and I urge anyone planning to take a diet to read this book first.

Back to Basics: I Have Hope Again
By N. Thomas
While I am still reading this book, I feel compelled to write a review already just because I'm so shocked at the complete honesty in this book. I have pretty much thrown my hands up on spending anymore money on diet books and the only reason I got this one is because I get to read it for "free" on Kindle Unlimited. Since I pay to read each month I told myself I'm going to read something--anything each month and this is my choice and I'm pleasantly surprised. I'm glad I chose this one.
Artene takes us back to the basics of being a human being and knowing when to eat (um, like, when we are hungry) and in doing that we will lose weight. Maybe the weight will come off slowly, but it will come off and stay off. While I was reading this book though, I started feeling a little bit ashamed of myself because I KNOW I have ignored my hunger signals, which she advises lowers metabolism and I know I also have eaten just because I had an appetite or taste for something or a craving and I've eaten out of boredom and what do you know: I'm fat.
But most of all I started to feel embarrassed not just for myself, but for all of us because she has to go through the detailed task of explaining to us what physical hunger feels like. Ugh. Are you serious? What has happened to us as mammals? Doesn't a baby cry when it's hungry? I remember feeding my younger sister when I was 5 and she was newborn and she'd cry when hungry and the bottle would slide out of her mouth when she was satisfied or she would turn her head from side to side to indicate she no longer wants the bottle. I remember saying, "Mommy, I'm hungry" when I was a little girl and mom would make me a sandwich and something to drink and that was enough and I didn't eat again until dinner. I was always thin. I was always 110 or 125 or 120 pounds.
Thank you, Diana Artene for pointing out that there are egos among nutritionists. I've always felt this way, but I'm not allowed to say it out loud because I'm fat and I have been accused of looking for an excuse to continue to be overweight. Thing is, there are so many arguments--yes, literal arguments about what diet is best to the point where people will call you names if you believe in low carb and not low fat, or intermittent fasting instead of eating 6 times a day. Before I picked up this book I had thrown my hands up on losing weight even though at 5'3 I'm almost 200 pounds.
Thank you Artene for bringing me back to reality. Odd thing that I've kept to myself is that I don't want to go to the gym because my mom and dad didn't in their day and they were thin and I refuse to write down everything I eat because we never HAD to do it before and didn't suffer obesity for not doing it. As a matter of fact my parents are in their 70's now and they are healthier than their 3 daughters (one of whom passed away from cancer at the young age of 49 and I am a cancer and heart attack survivor). My mom only eats when she's hungry and never eats processed foods. Sometimes she will come home from work and I'll ask her if she wants dinner and she'll say, "no, I had a hamburger at work." Me, I'd eat dinner anyway. Not anymore though. I'm going back to listening to my body.
