Dario es pasión y entrga

Me encanta esta historia de Dario donde lucha por nonenemorarse pero como esta chica le da vuelta a si vida sin él darse cuenta. Angel le dio paso a su amor en la 1ra parte y nos falta la 3ra de Raúl que la espero ansiosa. La familia de Dario tomo un giro distinto, el siguio sus sueños, lo logro y fue recompensado. Vanessa una gran mujer luchadora que apersar de la jugada de la vida , no se fia de los hombres , ni mucho menos del amor. La vida le tien una sorpresa, ella es la luz que le falta a Dario, la pi3za clave para que su familia vuelva a acogerlo como debió ser y matcara su vida para siempre.

Este libro es impresionante!

Si ya estaba enganchada con el primer libro, la historia de Vanessa y Darío no hizo más que agravar mi adicción!... Este libro es impresionante, me enamoré por completo de Darío, es un hombre que lucha por lo quiere y al que le gusta hacer las cosas bien, en definitiva, un buen hombre. Me gustó mucho como Juani describe la relación de ambos protagonistas con su pasado y con sus familias. Y me quedé con ganas de saber qué pasará con personajes secundarios, como Diana y Raúl, o Cris y Andrés!

The Perfect Blend of Words and Pictures

If you're a fan of J. Scott Campbell, this is an absolute "MUST HAVE" addition to your collection. Unlike his comic books where it's fictional tales or his sketchbooks which are just illustrations and pretty pictures, this book here has a lot of substance in terms of an in depth look at the comic book creator, J. Scott Campbell with an insightful interview by Richard Starkings. It's historical and epic! I just ordered it, or rather pre-ordered it, and received it only to be awe-stricken by the contents. It has some early work, including childhood art drawings as well as unpublished and rare art from the beginning of his career through 2004.

J. Scott Campbell is one of today's hottest artists, and some consider him a relatively new artist, but he's been a working artist for over 20 years and this book captures the first decade of his professional portfolio from the beginning and his origins starting out. He's hit his stride in the recent past decade and hasn't even pinnacled yet, with growing popularity and gaining a larger fan base. He's best known for his cover artwork lately more so than his sequential story telling (interior art), but had done excellent work with "Gen13" and creating "Danger Girl" - - his work has been used for Disney licensed products as well, so he's transcended just the comic book industry and medium.

This is a great book to own, it's so enjoyable to read and look at the artwork, so is to me, a complete book where I look forward to seeing the next release showcasing his work from 2005 onward...

Better read than art book

Purchased this hoping it would be a collection of vintage JSC art. It does have some neat childhood and early artwork from Campbell but if you are looking for new art, you might be disappointed. Most of the art has been presented in other formats and 95% of it is b/w except some meager images at the end that don't even show Campbell's best work. The bright spot of book is the stories about his early Image days and his journey into comics. If you want to know more about the man and his creations it's worth a read but if you are looking for new or rare drawings it's not in here.

One of Cambell's best books yet!

I am a HUGE fan of J Scott Campbell and own all of his prints (including all of his Fariy Tale prints), all of his sketchbooks, and all of his hard cover books. Not to mention most of his comic covers signed. If your all about the artwork and getting the best pictures that you can of Campbell's work, one might find this book a bit disappointing. The book centers on the first 10 years of Campbell's career (1994-2004) and while there is a lot of great artwork covered in here, with much of it being older sketchings and many of which are new and haven't been published in book form before, what really makes this book so special and ultimately stand out from all of the other J. Scott Campbell books released thus far is the sheer amount of writing and commentary. In my opinion, Richard Starkings interview and the huge amount of information contained in here makes this the best book released to date, that is of course if you have just as much interest in reading about the artist himself, and the work that he did in that 10 year period, as you do seeing pictures of Campbell's work.

At 256 pages, its more than double the size of most of the other Campbell hard cover books and as a fan that already owns all of the other hard cover books, part of me was worried that a good portion of this book would just wind up being images already presented in other books. Fortunately, that is deifnitely not the case as there is a lot of artwork in here that is not covered by his other hard cover books. I buy a LOT of comic related art books and this is ultimately one of the more unique artbooks released onto the market over the last 5+ years as it ultimately contains FAR more information than most art books do. I guess that can either be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on just what your looking for. Again, if all your after is a tomb of Campbells artwork, presented in full page presentations, your ultimately going to be disappointed, but if your a big fan of Campbell and have as much iterest in the artist himself and the work he did during that 10 year period as you do his artwork, your going to find this book an absolute thrill to read through.

Bottom line - this is definitely a book aimed at the more die hard Campbell fan. Again if your just after books that conatin his full color artwork, in full page spreads, then your best bet is sticking with the 7-8 hardcover books he already has on the market, but if your a big fan of Campbell and want as much information as artwork and love sketchbook style art, than this book definitely becomes a must buy!! Honestly, I wish we would see this style artbook FAR more often. It really is a breath of fresh air in its overall approach and style.

About the Author
Pamela Paxton is Professor of Sociology and Government and Christine and Stanley E. Adams, Jr. Centennial Professor in the Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Austin. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Economics and Sociology and her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has taught at the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) Summer Training Program in Advanced Statistical Techniques and has consulted for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). She is the author of articles and books on prosocial behavior, women in politics, and quantitative methodology. She lives with her husband, Paul von Hippel, in Austin, Texas.

Melanie M. Hughes is a Ph.D. student in Sociology at Ohio State University. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2001 with a degree in Sociology and Government. After coming to Ohio State in 2002, she wrote a master’s thesis investigating new explanations for women’s parliamentary representation in developing countries. She has also researched the lasting impact of colonialism on women’s parliamentary representation. She has won multiple university awards, has presented her work on women in politics at several conferences, and has a number of articles forthcoming in journals such as American Sociological Review and the Annual Review of Sociology. Currently, she is working on her dissertation, which looks at intersectionality through the representation of minority women in national legislatures around the world.

An easy read, full of information

This book was eye-opening and interesting. This is a book you can read for your own enrichment without the need of a professor to explain it. I read this book for a gender studies class, and I loved it. It was nice to have major deffinitions written bold in the text. and instead of keeping relevent stories in the text and rambling on, they are placed in their own boxes which make it more fun to read and easier to grasp the realavence of the topics discussed. The table of contents does a good job of explaining the different sections; if you want to find something quickly its all right there. I like how she keeps to the facts and doesn't push her views, but its hard to see another side to these issues becasue she does a good job proving her points. I also had to read Gender Inequality by Judith Lorber... it was full of info, but a difficult read. Both books work nicely together. but its impossible to read Lorber without a professor to explain what it all means.

Ms Theozen' s freshman foray into writing drew me into her journey from a naïve, virtuous young woman into an erotic virtuoso. The interesting mix of her travelogue with her journey of self awareness carried me with her, piquing my interest with each chapter of what new adventure and what unexplored aspect of her personality I would discover. As a traveller I recognised all of the cities through which her tale winds its way and found myself agreeing with many of her insights. An altogether very good read!

For planning at home only

This book is basically a summary overview of every region and town in New Zealand, all in color. It is great for giving you an introduction to everything New Zealand, but it falls very short on actual details about anything. Lonely Planet and Rough Guide offer far more details about each particular town/region/area, while the NZFrenzy books offer far more details about outdoor activities. In summary, get this book to get you a little acquainted with NZ and get your planning revved-up, but then get other books to bring with you to New Zealand and help you get the most out of your trip.

DK Eyewitness Travel guides can provide a visually rich, information-packed introduction to any destination, and this guide to New Zealand doesn't disappoint. It embellishes a concise travel narrative with lots of color photos, illustrations, maps, graphics, and diagrams.

The guide is arranged in the standard DK format, with an introduction to New Zealand, followed by surveys of the North and South Islands, basic travelers needs, and a survival guide. Key points for planning a visit from the US include the one to two days travel just to get there. New Zealand is a surprising large and diverse country offering habitats ranging from the sub-tropical to the sub-Antarctic, and lots inbetween. There are several substantial cities, including Auckland and Wellington. If travel to Christchurch on the South Island is planned, visitors may wish to check ahead since that area is still recovering from a devastating earthquake. The South Island does offer spectacular mountains and fjords, while North Island has beaches and marine life reserves, and the whole has an interesting mixture of British and Maori culture.

Given the size of New Zealand, visitors would be wise to plan ahead in moving around and between North and South Island. Always we look for DK travel books first. Why? The color plates are a great indicator of what we will encounter. Has good road maps to help us determine what to see when we rent a car. We do not use the lodging guide though. That is relegated to the internet. This book has quite a few items about hiking. We found good short hikes. In NZ they call is tramping.

Amazing yet annoying

I am so confused by all these great reviews people are sending in. Yes this was an amazing book but did no one else understand how freaking stupid Emily was? She stayed with a man who lied to her and cheated on her through the whole book when there was a compassionate and in love guy right Infront of her! Thats the thing that I loved about this book, Gavin. But the fact that Emily was so stupid just really made me annoyed with this book. And the ending was awful! She actually listens to what Dillion ORDERS her to do? Does she not realize when a guy has a awful drinking problem and when he is ordering you to do something you should leave him. And another thing even if she didnt beleive Gavin why does she immdeiantly go to freaking Dillion? Why can't she just take a break before running straight back to the guy who hit her!? I realize I'm ranting and I'm sorry but Im mad that this book was so amazing with the love Gavin gave her but I'm also so annoyed that Emily was a very stupid chatector.

I can't compute how annoyed I am with books like these. I wanted to like it. I buy books like these for a reason; easy, light reads I can read between studying, classes, work, and boyfriend time. Sometime you get lucky with one that is actually awesome and takes you on a higher level of enjoyment and you HAVE to devour. Collide is absolutely nothing original. I DESPISE books like these that add in miscommunication for the sake of prolonging the story and drama. I HATE IT!!! It's unoriginal and annoying.
The female protagonist is ridiculous and got to be way too much toward halfway through. I guess I have a different mentality, but a man telling me "YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO HANG OUT WITH THIS GIRL BECAUSE SHE HAS PIERCINGS AND IS DRESSED WEIRD" would make me laugh and tell him to gtfo of my house not cower and nod. It was mentioned once of twice that the girl has abandonment issues and she didn't want to find a guy like her father. UMMMM DOESN'T SEEM LIKE YOU'RE ON THE RIGHT TRACK, SWEETHEART! The waffling got to be too much and the "I can't deal with this, I'm gonna throw up! I can't speak to him because blahblahblahblah..." makes me clinge. Please, stop with the forced drama and weak women.

I guess this book just wasn't for me from the beginning because I'm not a "love at first sight" kind of girl. Lust, sure. Love? Yeah..no.

Not to mention the sex scenes were not steamy or hot (there is a lot of wall sex). I get it, we all have a favorite position but if you're going to write basically the same scene over and over again, it's gonna get boring. - So, no saving grace there. Plus the whole *spoiler* cheating thing is completely disgusting to me. Can we talk about the biggest thing for me: unprotected sex with just anyone. Awesome. Really. "I'm on the pill." Oh! Great! So the hoards of other females Gavin had sex with plus, Dillion who cheated on you who knows how many times but you've been having unprotected sex with...there's really no possibilty of STDs. Right. But she's on the pill. So it's all good.

This author did not impress me at all and I will NOT be purchasing more of her stories. Seriously what's with Amazon reviews lately? It's so difficult for me to find books now because I have hardly any trust in these five star ratings. Give me a break. People are too easy with these ratings.

Another book? Really. Okay. People are getting crazy with these sequels.

Absolute Frustration

Spoilers are likely, so if that isn't your thing, feel free to ignore this review entirely.

I should’ve put this book down and spared myself a headache. While I didn’t hate it, I certainly didn’t love it, either. Actually, I take that back. It was pretty awful.

Where to start with this mess? I cannot begin to explain how ridiculously annoying it is when a character laughs with almost everything they say, as if every word out of their mouth is funny enough to warrant a laugh. Not to mention the fact that, in this case, it was used as a dialogue tag. That’s amateur writing at its finest. “Laughed” isn’t a dialogue tag. It’s an action tag. This means that it should be punctuated differently. You can’t speak an action. A period is needed as a separator between the action and the dialogue, not a comma.

While I had many issues with this book, the biggest annoyance for me was Emily herself. The girl was a martyr to the extreme. I don’t care how much Dillon, her boyfriend, did for her in the past. That doesn’t give him free rein to treat her like crap. She allowed him to treat her this way, even making excuses for herself by claiming that she didn’t have anyone from her past with whom to compare his behavior. I understand she took care of her mom while she was sick, but she’s a 24-year-old woman. I find it hard to believe that she never dated, not once before her mom got sick since, you know, everyone in the book couldn’t shut up about how beautiful she was. All that aside, I thought she was a weak, spineless woman who couldn’t seem to function without a man to take care of her. Dillon manipulated her at every turn because she allowed it. She wasn’t blind to his many faults because she was naïve. She was blind because she refused to accept what was right in front of her face. Everyone could see Dillon for who he truly was, everyone but her. She accepted every excuse he threw at her. If only the same applied for Gavin. She wouldn’t even give him the courtesy of allowing him to explain himself to her.

Dillon was possessive, controlling, and manipulative. I didn't understand what Emily saw in him. I didn't find him all that appealing, not even before he started showing his true colors. He had d-bag written all over him.

"'So you went swimming I see,' Dillon remarked, peeling the shirt from his body as he and Emily entered their room. Closing the door behind him, he shed the rest of his clothing and tossed them into a pile.

'Very good observation,' she laughed.

Dillon walked into the bathroom, turned on the shower, and got in. 'I hope you kept the body that belongs to me covered up around my friend,' he called out.

'You’re not answering me, Emily. Did you cover yourself up?'

Walking into the bathroom, she let out a frustrated sigh. 'Dillon, what do you see right now?' she asked, motioning her hand over her body, her voice a touch irritated by his question. It was clear to her that she wasn’t baring too much skin.

That’s a great boyfriend she’s got there. Good Lord, did he expect her to go swimming fully clothed? I’m surprised he didn’t lock her away in his room the whole time to prevent anyone from looking at his property. That’s exactly how he treats her—like an object he owns.

Later on, Emily’s reaction to that particular scene made me rage.

"After downing a shot of tequila, a slight pang of guilt for not giving Dillon the little he had asked from her hit the pit of her stomach. He’d emotionally taken care of her through the most difficult time in her life, constantly complimented her on a daily basis—whether it be about her physical or educational attributes—and made her want for nothing financially. Sex in someone’s home—be it crowded or not—shouldn’t have been an issue in her mind."

She actually felt guilty for turning him down for sex. This girl isn’t emotionally mature enough to be in a relationship at all, let alone with someone who so easily manipulates her.

Olivia, Emily’s friend, said it best:

“First, you need to stop feeling like you’re completely indebted to Dumba$$, Emily. He did what any good boyfriend would’ve done. Nothing special.”

Between Dillon and Gavin, the obvious choice is Gavin, but he’s certainly nothing special to write home about. Sadly, he just didn’t do it for me. I mean, sure, he was sweet and all, but after a while, I just felt sorry for him. He was kind of pathetic, if I’m being honest, letting Emily walk all over him and play her little games. He went on and on about the connection he had with Emily, how she was meant to be his, yet had no problem lying to her face on Dillon’s behalf. To his credit, he did eventually come clean, but, by that point, I was over his cowardice. He talked a big game, but that was about it—all talk, no action. I didn’t understand why he and Dillon were even friends. I wouldn’t even call what they had a real friendship. He more or less tolerated Dillon for reasons unknown. I don’t know why Gavin put up with Dillon. I don’t know why he did a lot of the things he did.

Overall, I felt that the characters weren’t fully developed. I couldn’t really connect with them. Then again, maybe it’s because I have very little patience for stupidity, and these characters were beyond stupid—every last one of them.

I found the book as a whole to be somewhat boring, and by somewhat I mean completely. It was melodramatic, predictable, and overly long and wordy. The plot relied too heavily on contrived miscommunication and misunderstandings. Basically, it was angst for the sake of angst. It had potential, but fell short on delivery.

About the Author

Dr. Pieter Schavemaker, Principal Consultant of E-Bridge Consulting B.V., has worked in the energy sector for 20 years. Pieter gained a varied experience working as assistant professor at the Delft University of Technology, with a large manufacturer of power system equipment (ABB), with a Transmission System Operator (Tennet TSO), and as a consultant. During recent years, Pieter was heavily involved in the international work on the boundary between system operations and the electricity market. Pieter is one of the founding fathers of the CWE Flow-based Market Coupling that is currently in operation. Pieter holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Power Systems from Delft University of Technology, is a certified PRINCE2® Practitioner, and author of the book ‘Electrical Power System Essentials’, published by John Wiley & Sons.

Lou van der Sluis obtained his M.Sc. in electrical engineering from the Delft University of Technology in 1974. He joined the KEMA High Power Laboratory in 1977 as a test engineer. In 1990 he became a part-time professor and since 1992 he has been employed as a full-time professor in Electrical Power Systems at the Delft University of Technology. Professor van der Sluis is a senior member of IEEE and past convener of CC-03 of CIGRE and CIRED to study the transient recovery voltages in medium and high voltage networks. He is has been member of CIGRE WG. A3-24 on internal arc testing and member of CIGRE WG. C4-502 to study the interaction between High-Voltage overhead lines and underground cables. He is a member of the advisory board of SC-A3 of CIGRE. Professor Van der Sluis is the author the book Transients in Power Systems and co-author of Electrical Power System Essentials and Switching in Electrical Transmission and Distribution Systems, all published by Wiley.
